Re: Weidlich Tuba (DEU)

I like how the main slide tube passes in front of the dogleg coming out of the valveblock, rather than behind. Interesting horn!

I guess I haven't updated that. It's a Rudy Meinl Bayreuth 5/4 BBb. I got it from a local community player. He was able to attend the concert and hear it from the other end!

Re: Post Your Group and Section Photos Here

Here is our Lincoln Civic Orchestra (community orchestra that's been around for about 45 years, I believe) low brass section. I played with the group for several seasons about 10 years ago, had to leave for scheduling reasons, then started back again last season. It's grown to about 90 people. https ...

I bought the front action Buescher. We'll see what I do with it!

Re: You had to have been there.

So you're saying I should use my Eb for the overture to "Orpheus in the Underworld" that we'll be playing on our next community orchestra concert?

Re: Big Lincoln, NE Public Surplus tuba auction

Depending on the valves, I might go for that front-action one. If I can convince my wife to let me buy another horn.... Do you recognize the make of that one? Reynolds? That's my best guess, but I have no idea. Usually I look at the ferrules, but the pictures aren't the clearest or very close.

Re: Ravenna, NE: York euph played in Hazard Norwegian Band

Interesting indeed! Looks like it's in pretty good shape, dent-wise. It's about two hours away from me, so I'll probably pass. That and my wife would probably kill me if I brought home another horn...

That looks like a lot of horn for not a lot of dough! Looks like it's in great shape, too! Good luck on the sale.

Re: wrapping a brass instrument

I remember someone posting about using vinyl wrapping on a Conn 20J-type tuba. I can't remember if it was here or on Facebook, but I do remember seeing it done. Sorry for the rather unhelpful reply...
