Re: Screw-On Bell to Fit Tuba in Small Car
If you're not picking up someone else and taking them to the jobs where you're playing your F tuba, I'm going to make the assumption that you use bags (as do most tuba players) and suggest that you set the instrument (upright in its bag) upright on the floor of your passenger seat and seat belt it ...

Re: POLL: Holton 6/4 BB-flat model BB345 tuba - 5th valve?
A flat half-step 5th valve might be nice for those b-naturals. When I had my Holton I recall needing a long pull on 4 for that note played 4-2.

Re: External microphone for Iphone
I have a couple of professional quality mics that I bought a long time ago when a lot more money was flowing in and things didn't cost as much. I would like to know about some type of adapter whereby a traditional type of microphone can be used with things like phones and computers. I'm pretty ...

Re: What Euphonium does Mulcahy use?
I thought I was possibly going to be playing Pictures this upcoming year, but it was just one thing that was tossed out there before they settled on the rep. I began playing the ox cart solo with my 321 and then with a huge.M-W - back-and-forth. Neither particularly play better in tune, but (unlike ...

Re: Just saw new Mnozil show...
I seen the, 4 times, and had post show hangs 3 times. Will be seeing them again next week in New Jersey. Herr Branstötter has never made the hangs, while Herr Gansch, Professor Paul, and Zoltan Kiss have been quite social.
I’m looking forward to hearing them again.

Re: Band Director’s Marching Band
Regardless of anyone's special cause - whether right, wrong, nutty, or sane, this is why - sadly - I will never go to that city again, and why I mostly avoid cities. Most have become dangerously chaotic, and particularly during celebrations and gatherings. Seemingly, those who run so many cities ...

Re: Embouchure shifts
Trumpet/trombone players (I suspect) do shifts, YET they are miniscule/unnoticeable (to themselves as well as others) because they are so small. Trombone players certainly do shift, sometimes several times across the range. The strategy I’ve heard from some of the best is to have an overlap, So t ...

Wow. And that person was on the board. Unveiling, as if it needed to be unveiled, the purpose of the organization, which was, of course, to make money, and had nothing whatsoever to do with the musical arts except that they were the vehicle for the money (as is so often the case.) I was briefly on ...

Re: Literature
The middle movement of the York is quite nice and I'll see how my horn player feels about it. I think we could do it. The Stevens is also quite nice, and I think I have a euphonium player who would be tickled to play the tbone part. Interesting that the Wilder doesn't attract me that much. I could ...

Re: Literature
Does anybody know where is some kind of list of pieces for horn, tuba, and piano? I have a willing and able horn player, could likely hire a pianist, and would like to find out what is out there that is in my "possibly we could hack through this for fun" range. If you add trombone, John Stevens ...

Re: We continue to bring up theft, the likelihood of theft, and airtags - in various threads...
I noted that the older Club I have in the Roo, compared to the newer Club I have in the truck --- is much heavier, has a different kind of "key" to open it, and if someone where trying to remove it instead of just cutting the steering wheel, it would be quite the task. The newer one, probably ...

Re: more on: levels of performance
Very interesting thought. I quit playing when I entered engineering school at 18, and picked up the horn again 26 years later. I’ve been studying and practicing since them\n, but because I had little formal education in theory, I lock up when it comes time to play patterns in various keys without r ...

Re: playing and hearing aids
A couple months ago I was asked to join yet another local band on horn, and at the last rehearsal a trombone who had not been there, returned, and his bell was right behind me on the right. Even with the ear plug, my right ear was still ringing the next day. I wrote the conductor and explained that ...

Re: Mnozil Brass
I've seen Mnozil 4 times (Lehigh Pennsylvania, Birmingham, AL, Troy, NY and NYC) in 3 different shows. They were awesome every time. I also got to hang with them after 3 of the shows. Albert played one of the tours (on his giant BBb). I think him playing that show, standing up doing the same schtick ...
