SOLD
Hello everyone! I just finished work on a new style King 2341 BBb tuba, and it's ready to go to its new home! While it was in my shop it underwent a full disassembly, chem clean, and some dent work. The bottom first slide crook was cracked from the previous owner trying to pound it out, so I ...

SOLD- Conn Naked Lady 20K Sousaphone
Hello! Up for sale is a fantastic Conn 20K sousaphone from the naked lady era. While not a looker, it's in great mechanical condition (all slides pull, valves are smooth, plating on the pistons is good, etc). Comes with neck and bits. I have mouthpieces if needed. I'm asking $3,400 or best ...

Re: Synthetic valve oils
My business trialed an assortment of BERP oils recently and we've had huge success. I was especially interested in BERP because, along with their regular viscosity oils, they make a super viscous one for instruments with worn valves. Seeing as my shop works on a lot of vintage instruments, this ...

Scam Alert
Be on the lookout for emails from daysblessing1@gmail.com. They emailed me about several items I have in the "Want to Buy" section here. The items were clearly photoshopped and they consistently did not send specific pictures I asked for. They also asked for my address very early on in the ...

Re: FS: 1926 Buescher model 85 3v BBb, $700
I love how Bueschers sound, and I'm sure this one plays just like the others. I've actually been keeping an eye out for a recording bell tuba for my personal collection. There are plenty of times where something like this would be more appropriate for outdoor gigs instead of my sousaphone. Alas ...

Thickest Piston/Rotor Oil?
I work on a lot of vintage instruments that are on the verge of needing a valve section rebuild because of wear. What do you find to be the best valve oil to help these instruments limp along? I know of Meinlschmidt heavy piston & rotor, Monster "smoother," Yamaha vintage, and Hetman classic. I'm ...

Medium Shank Bass Trumpet Mouthpiece (12C?)
Hello! I just finished restoration work on a personal project; a bass trumpet/flugelhorn/tenor horn in trumpet form! The nomenclature is currently being debated and figured out. Regardless, it has a medium shank receiver. I used an adaptor and a small shank Bach 12C and it seems to respond well. I'm ...

Re: A Blast From the Past: My Masters Project
What were your findings on the success of students who started on tuba versus those who switched to it? I could see it either way. Either starting on the tuba is better because they start without the embouchure of another instrument, or that starting on a more technical instrument sets a precedent ...
