There's also a retired tubist in Kansas City that is selling an HB50 for a very good price.

Re: Cimbasso brands and where to buy
They used to have 30 tubas in a showroom (in the early 2000s). It was worth a flight to go try lots of tubas in one place. They even picked me up at the airport (long before uber). Sigh.

Cimbasso brands and where to buy
I'm considering buying an F cimbasso and am seeking advice. Who makes cimbassi? What brands should I consider? Where does one find/purchase them? I saw Chris Olka's video review of a Dillon. Dillon currently shows them out of stock. More generally, where are good places to find/buy tubas these days ...

Re: Tuba Size
Is it mostly about the "bugle" (bigger inner diameter before it gets to the bell section)?

Tuba Size
Is there a precise definition of the "size" of a tuba, 3/4, 4/4, 5/4, 6/4? And what are the defining characteristics that determine the size? Bugle shape (bore along the entire air route)? Bell size? How open the wrap is? Bore at valve set? Apologies if this is obvious to everyone else. Seems like ...

I'm interested. Is there some way to contact you? I've also just recently joined. Can a moderator put us in direct contact somehow?

Re: Looking for advice for CC 5v (piston) 5/4 or largish 4/4
I was in Redmond WA Monday and got to try three tubas at "The Mighty Quinn", namely an Eastman EBC-836 (6/4), an Eastman EBC-832 (4/4), and a Willson 3060 Merlin. All three are good horns. I'm tempted by both Eastmans. Unfortunately, I had to play in a little acoustic booth so couldn't get a sense ...

Re: Looking for advice for CC 5v (piston) 5/4 or largish 4/4
The 5450 is definitely better for larger ensembles than a CB-50, but, if you've not talked to Lee Stofer about the modifications he developed for the CB-50 you really should, it makes instrument more resonant and easier to play. I have a detailed list of his modifications I can share as well. I ...

Looking for advice for CC 5v (piston) 5/4 or largish 4/4
I'm in the market for a CC 5v (piston) tuba, 5/4 or largish 4/4. Been playing a Getzen CB-50 mostly. I haven't bought a tuba in about 15 years. Formerly had a Willson 3050 that I generally liked but am looking for something less heavy and more resonant. I'm thinking perhaps MW 5450 Thor or Miraphone ...
