Re: Eastman EBB825VG BBb-Tuba - Soundcheck

Anyone know if these have vented valves? I asked Eastman about this and they said their rotors have a ‘slot’ or something built in that works like a vent. Not sure I understand what happens - if the casing isn’t vented, where/how is the change in pressure being dissipated? Anyone have real world exp ...

Re: Eastman EBB825VG BBb-Tuba - Soundcheck

Had mine since January 2024. All good. Love it. I pull no slides and I’ve always been a slide puller before this horn. 3 for 1+2 on a few notes. 235 for low b and e.97% of water comes out the main slide water key. Total happy. I don’t own a c anymore.

I remember a visit a long time ago when you poured some oil down my leadpipe. It had a bad taste for quite a while. Same stuff?

Re: "winning" a job

I tend to wonder if orchestras are dying because those who make the decisions as to what they program (on "classical" concerts) always feel it necessary to mix in at least one piece of poop into every concert (and pieces of poop are not classics, therefore not classical). People don't like ...

Re: Eastman 534 vs the 562

I’m 3 months in on my Eastman 825vg. Very happy. Using a Laskey 32b. Good fit for me. I see no need for a c tuba for my needs

One of the practical benefits of rotor horn. 90 + % of my water comes out the 1 water key. So nice

Where’s the gig? Might be more tuba players there than you’d expect. Enjoying your old conn Sousa!

I resigned from my adjunct teaching job in December. One of my student’s scholarships was more for the semester than my pay for the semester. Time to go! I enjoyed parts of it, but moving on.

Always interesting to see what other orchestras pay. Mine pays less per service, but does do mileage and lodging, which adds up since I’m from out of town.

Either Yamaha f would work just fine. Maybe the new 4/4 c if they want to promote it.

It’s been a while, but I remembered how shocked I was by how easy low f was. If there was a fifth valve option, some pros might consider. I think they are selling every one they can possibly make to the school market.so why change.
