Re: $5,500 York 3082 (3+1) EEb Tuba (Rebadged Besson 982) Silver. Winter Case

Someone I emailed with asked about how this compares to my Besson 983 and about its intonation. I don’t play this regularly since I have decided to keep the Besson 983 and want to keep this York pristine. I have some videos I can share (most easily on Facebook messenger) where I play some excerpts s ...

Re: Besson 983/984 discontinued?

Riddle me this: I’ve played oodles of Besson 3+1 eefers but never tried a 983. Do they play similarly? My brain automatically associates Eb with 3+1, so I’m not sure how well the four inline compensating fingers would do. It would require a lot of unlearning related to playing a fair amount of 4 val ...

Re: Besson 983/984 discontinued?

I've been toying with selling my Besson 983 and switching to a government-owned MW 45 SLP F tuba as my bass tuba... but every time I play this Besson, I'm reminded how fantastic it is... and how I've never cared for these 45 series F tubas. Maybe I'll keep the Besson... I don't have it listed for sale

Re: Best Budget Eeb Tuba.

I can't comment on the "Best" but Schiller seems to be the cheapest available in the US and I'm not sure how different the Schillers are from some of the similar designed Wessex (same factory, no?). I can comment that I have a Schiller euphonium that I bought used and I think it is 99% fantastic.

Re: Piston Finger Button Replacements

If we were reasonably certain that the buttons are the same size and design, I might be willing to trade the ones on my 983... I bought this from Joe a few years ago, here's a link to the pics.

If I'm right about who built, it I think the valves are a notch above king.

$5,500 York 3082 (3+1) EEb Tuba (Rebadged Besson 982) Silver. Winter Case

York Preference 3082 EEb 4 valve compensating tuba silver. Barely used. I believe this tuba to be completely dent free (never been dented). You might??? Be able to find some light scratches. It's in very good condition. I believe this model was made in the same German factory that makes the Besson ...

$400 Unitec Sousaphone Case

Used. Some plywood damage in one corner, but still seems pretty sturdy.

Re: Who made miraphone sousaphones?

The top valve caps threaded to the casings sort of look like Miraphone 1291/2/3 but I'm not familiar enough with those - and the picture is not high resolution enough, so inconclusive. I guess I could ask Christian. He would tell me the truth. Thank you for taking the picture. I reuploaded the pic ...

@bloke

Here's a Pic I found on my phone. It didn't fit in this unitec case. Bell was too tall. Notice the crazy 4th valve tuning slide.

Re: Schiller Studio Elite (“compensating”) CC tuba thoughts?

I haven't played this model. I have a Schiller euphonium that I bought used. I'm thrilled with it. I tend to believe that there are so many of these euphoniums made and sold that they probably have gotten really good at making them. There are so many different tubas they make, I'm guessing there ...
