Playing with teeth (dental) braces - seeking advice

Due to the need of adjusting the bite, I've started wearing teeth braces at the age of 63 :facepalm2: Fortunately it is not as bad as feared to play the tuba with these foreign metal objects on - except for the fact that the inside of my lower lip gets sort of stucked on the sharp edges and thereby ...

Re: Identifying a B&S 5v CC Tuba

I'll second that this looks like a tall PT4. It's a bit narrower than my PT5, which is proportioned like a PT6. The routing of the slides for the valves also don't match my PT5 (see here https://imgur.com/B2tnqJ6 ). Do you own a pair of calipers? To my knowledge, the tall PT4's have cylindrical ...

Seeking: Opinions on a 1988 B&S 3097 CC Tuba

I'm going to test play a 1988 B&S 3097 CC Tuba this week.
Any opinions on this particular model?
Good sides, weak sides, model related tuning tendencies, anything to watch out for etc.

This is the PT-3 model and a 4/4 size - right?

Homemade 5th valve conversion from left hand to right hand?

I'm going to have my tech move the 5th valve left hand operation to right hand thumb on my Meinl Weston 37. He is the only one in Denmark who can do this modification and he is extremely busy all the time. While waiting for that I thought of making a temporary conversion myself. I know that several ...

I bought it through a webstore here in Denmark that sells all sorts of equipment for aquariums and garden ponds

Re: Cleaning / Sanitizing a hard case

To get rid of bad smell I've had pretty good results using granulated active charcoal.
I just put a good amount of it in a bowl, put it in the case (closed) and let it stay there for some weeks.
The active charcoal can be reused after a good wash under running water and some drying time

Re: Melton Spezial Cc (Meinl Weston 37 "Bill Bell") Modifications?

Thanks Bloke
That's a good idea!
It actually crossed my mind but I was anxious about the good deal of thumb moving in combination with the fingering.
After giving it a second thought I think it would be no problem with a spring loaded trigger returning to "home" every time not activated

Melton Spezial Cc (Meinl Weston 37 "Bill Bell") Modifications?

I've been the happy owner of a Melton Spezial (Meinl Weston 37 "Bill Bell") Cc tuba with 5 valves for a good year now. I was wondering which modificatinos other owners of that model with the left hand operated 5th valve have had made? I read somewhere that having the 5th valve operation moved from ...
