I have an old model 86 CC with clockwork springs and a 16.5" bell from what I believe would have been made in 1958 or 1959. It's a great player.

These are great cases, especially if you still have the courage to fly with a tuba as checked baggage! I used to have one of these for a MW 2165. It was 88lbs with the tuba packed inside of it. I sold it with that tuba as I no longer check tubas when I fly.

I remember that Alan Baer replaced a bell on a B&S PT-10 with a 184 bell. It took out much of the diffuseness in the lower register that is sometimes an issue with those tubas.

FWIW, I do like the B&S PT-10 F tubas!

The tack that I believe I am going to pursue with this is to use my phone to ring a little reminder 20 minutes later - for me to go back to that instrument again and empty water out it final time.

I do this and then place a few drops of my valve oil recipe down the leadpipe.
