Re: finding the age of my 2145
I also tried to contact them about my 2145 for exactly the same reason. Tried their online registration process too. No response to either. Frustrating. It's such a wonderful horn for them to neglect the people who own them like 'red headed stepchild'...... oh well. Just enjoy what we have and ...

Re: finding the age of my 2145
It lives up to the comments I've read about it. I had it to my guy last week for a bath and a going over. I had him vent the valves and it plays so easy I'm seriously thinking about making it my #1 even with having to work on new finger patterns

Re: finding the age of my 2145
“Small valves” had caps that would an accept a felt for the buttons to land on. “Big valve” used a felt beneath the button to index to the cap and had no felt groove machined into them. See below. “Small valve” top cap on left, “Big valve” top cap on right. Clipboard May 11, 2024 at 4.57 PM.jpeg Ok. ...

Re: finding the age of my 2145
One way to approximate is if it happens to have the original version smaller diameter pistons. i think i've talked with you about this earlier. i have never seen another 2145 so i have no point of reference to judge the sizes. the pistons are close to the size of my 2341... i don't know if that's ...

finding the age of my 2145
i can't seem to find a serial number but my eyes aren't the best they've been... i have looked for a list like other companies have, not found it yet, may not be asking the right questions... sent emails to meinl but haven't received response.

Re: Spit
even my 186 needs a spin occasionally... i produce a LOT of spit when i play. to the point i carry puppy pads in my backpack to put on the floor under me. at home, i have a vinyl tray like a dish drainer that catches it.

Re: Spit
that is aggravating. my king does that and i've not completely solved the pattern but sometimes i have to spin it one direction part of the way and roll it then spin it the other direction all the way around. crazy... but there's a flood when i do.

Re: tablets for gigs
I bought a refurbished Chromebook on eBay for $50 to test the idea. It works. It’s a little small but readable. I think I still prefer paper, but the Chromebook really helps with the church stuff where we have hundreds of pieces, some loose, some in books. The Chromebook puts them in alphabetical o ...

Re: Back when…
I like this. I was invited to a football game this past fall to see an old friend's marching band...well, they really aren't marching bands anymore. The visiting band had all the bells and whistles - flags, front mallet percussion ensemble, and electronics. They had 160 members on the field with 8 ...

Re: tablets for gigs
Scanning is optional. ForScore allows you to take photos of pages and use those instead of PDF files. I can import an entire band concert worth of music in 7-8 minutes. If someone programs something I already scanned, even better. A foot pedal is optional. Tap the right side of the screen, forward ...

Re: tablets for gigs
The people I know who use tablets have a large income. I could afford one but prefer to spend my money on other things, as long as I'm still able to turn pages. At a recent concert I was holding down valves 1 and 2 with my left hand while turning the page with my right, and playing right on through ...

Re: tablets for gigs
i have tablets/laptops and footpedals... i have used them and have decided that it's just something else to carry around and malfunction. since my life is pretty much ruled by MURPHY'S LAW, it's not a question of if it malfunctions, rather WHEN it WILL. and tha's usually at the exact worst time it ...

Re: old folks homes

Mobile sheets pro music reader
I've been using the android version of mobile sheets pro for several years and really do enjoy it. I found they've converted it to windows now. There's a free version to give you a test run and the pro version is $12.99. I use an HP pavilion X360 which is a laptop/tablet.... There are several foot ...
