Re: Why should or shouldn’t I renew my ITEA membership?
Until ITEA can demonstrate that membership brings a greater value to my playing than what I can find for free, I won't sign up. That's hard when they don't have a presence anywhere I visit on the regular. I really like gocsick 's points - those add value from a position of authority as a ...

Re: What did you play today?
It’s the 45SL pipe. Going back to @Sousaswag’s August 2024 post, I forgot to ask the repair shop to take measurements too. Every good thing you’ve heard and read about doing this mod is true.

Re: What did you play today?
Played my 2155 with the newly installed smaller lead pipe and the water keys off the 3rd and 4th valve tubing. The odd angle of the lead pipe is by my request. It’s a better ergonomic fit for me.

MW Big Valve Felts and Corks
Hey everyone,
Crowd sourcing because I can’t find them online - I’m probably searching the wrong key words.
Alternatively, if anyone knows what the pre-crushed thickness is, I’m not opposed to purchasing hole punches and the materials to do it myself.
Thanks in advance,
Frank

That’s just down the road from me. I was willing to pay $50 for a new toy. Someone wanted it for more.

No, I wasn't in the band - I went the submariner route. I put my horn down for 6 years while I was in.Schlitzz wrote: Thu Aug 22, 2024 2:21 pm Did you have the Traub experience? At Great Lakes and Cinclantflt, there was a strange tenor player. Got dinged regularly for shoes and his knots.

Oh, the edge dressing. Yeah. I love that stuff too but use a different brand. I never had the guts to use it on the shoes like you are (i saw too many guys taking short cuts in the navy and watch that fail spectaculary at inspection). I just used a Sharpie.

Re: for (probably: mostly) older working musicians who wear real shoes to gigs...
My go to is Leather Luster - it's a company based out of Virginia that puts a mirror finish on your shoes. It's a PITA to get the initial shine on the front end because you have to strip the existing wax, dyes, and finish off. but after the initial 16 hours of work, I never had to shine them again ...

Re: Custom Mouthpiece Stand/Holder
The difficulty lies in finding a small antler. Here it is next to an adult antler.
The small antler was probably shed by a 1- or 2-year-old moose. The adult antler would probably take up half my desk.

I finally had the means, motive, and opportunity to make this happen today after sitting on this baby moose antler for the best part of 15 years.

Without hesitation, mariachi. Getting dressed up, a big sombrero, drinking Mexican lagers.
