If I didn't already have a really good USA made vintage valve trombone, I would probably be reacting to the King with the classic 'sour grapes' attitude; in other words "the valves are probably shot".
Seriously, if that instrument is still viable, the band director who surplussed that thing is really short-sighted/narrow-minded. Of course, it doesn't have four valves, so...

The valve trombone looks great. It's not the BD's fault. It's the kids who don't want to play it. Who could blame them? They play slide trombone!...
UPDATE: The case is marked "Mariachi"! Well, if they have a Mariachi program, it should get some use. He could cut it to C for the trumpeters. He IS a dummy!...
