Why didn’t I know about this?

Post by dreamofoenghus »

Admittedly, I don’t claim to be very knowledgeable in tuba recordings over the years…it’s just for fun, not a career. But why did I never hear this album before? I’m sure most of you are familiar but in case anyone else is curious…

That album is the one tuba album that has truly been able to go mainstream. I hear tracks from it being played at stores a lot this time of year. And I’ve heard it alot on several radio stations as well. Beats the heck out of the every third song is Mariah Carey. I’m surprised you have not heard it. In fact just last night I heard it in one of the local grocery stores.

This is my friend.
I believe I wrote about recently doing the current Celtic Women Christmas show, and that Sleigh Ride was included in the second half. Yep, it was this guy, luckily for them.

I recommend all of the Travelin' Light albums (CDs in my case), and I like Brassy Night At The Opera, too.
At my wife's behest, I ran the SF marathon (one-and-done forever. Ugh, Zero joy - I hate running), and lots of Travelin' Light and a bunch of British brass band tracks helped distract me from the misery.

I lucked up and heard that one track on a Sirius Christmas channel. My middle school son said he didn’t know a clarinet could sound good when I played it for him

I just figured out how to watch YouTube thru my cable provider on TV.

Just saw a 1962 Lawrence Welk Christmas Special and now Classical Guitar Christmas Yule Log.
