He plays tuba and made his own harness, then a lot of band colleagues asked and he started his business for all kinds of heavy/awkward to hold instruments.

If you don't have to walk, consider a standing tuba playing stand. Works for all tubas and the weights not on you.

I’m surprised no one has remade the old Blue Note tuba strap. I used one for years and it was great.

The first snap hook worked well but was almost impossible to take OFF the tuba. The second one is better. It is the only non-rotating snap hook that my suppliers carry, which seemed to work fine. Available in 1" only. Also okay.

The real problem is the carriage hooks on tubas are all over the place. The distance of the carriage hook from the mouthpiece receiver will determine where on my body I have to position the tuba belt. Good luck with that one! I think a harness makes a lot more sense.

I know Jürg, he is an engineer who plays tuba, sousaphone and piano, he showed me his croxbelt after a gig we both played years ago. Can only recommend them. He also is a very nice guy. Caveat: I don't own a croxbelt though, because I refuse to play standing or walking.

Received my Neotech XL harness today from Dillon Music. Matt said it would be kinda hard to set up, but once I figured it out it would be very comfy. I'll try to spend some time with it this weekend and will report back here.
