Whenever I see a horn like this, meaning missing one or more parts but otherwise in relatively good shape, I always wonder how hard and expensive it would be to find or make the missing parts. I hate to see old instruments get wasted.
I picked up one of those in Middleonowhere, Illinois (northwest Illinois, at a huge passed-down-through-generations farm) from the son (who is next-in-line to own the farm, and is the town's band director).
' same amazing engraving. I sold it to a frankentubist.
