I played that Lyon & Healy right after it was completed and I was blown away. I would love to play it again to remind myself what it was like. It was the belle of the ball at the 1999 Army workshop, if I'm remembering my dates correctly. David Zerkel used it to perform the first movement of the Gregson in 2003 at the Eastman School of Music tuba event. The accompaniment was arranged for tuba-euph ensemble, a very memorable concert.

I sure wish I could have been a fly on the wall for that visit, or that it was recorded. Thank you for the pictures though.

Back in the late 90s Matt Walters had made several CC conversions from various brand instruments. If I am not mistaken many of them were conversions from Eb. Several of my studio-mates in college had them. One had a Buesher, one had a Conn Eb conversion and 1 had a York Eb conversion. That short action piston conversion (pictured above) may have been a horn that one of my studio-mates had out on trial. I seem to remember playing it.

Matt's custom horns play like BUTTER!

Was it my imagination, or were they originally youtube links to playing?

When i looked at this thread Sunday i thought there were little white triangles in the middle of each picture, and i thought i really gotta listen to these, but not while the superbowl is on. Now they are flickr links, regardless of what they were then.

Meh, it coulda been my imagination. Sometimes my imagination is better than the "real" world.

Yeah, i figured i must have imagined it.

Best i can guess is there is bright patch of carpet visible between the chair and person legs, and maybe between that and light text, i thought they were triangles at a glance?

Also it says something about what i hoped was there...
