My B&S tuba has the uniball system and I read in a thread on the other board that you should grease the ball socket joint instead of oiling them.
(Advice from theBerlinerTuba)
I am a lucky guy, the valves are noiseless (I expect the former owner to be someone who didn't study so much) so from day one that the tuba was in my possesion I put grease on the joints.
What I would like to know if there is a special kind of grease for this, or can I stick to the universal grease I am using now.
https://eurol.com/en/products/eurol-uni ... ease-ep-2/
(Very cheap, even for 6 valves, I have a jar wich will last me a lifetime for only 6$)
Thanks everybody in advance for the input

Re: B&S uniball grease question
Hey Wade,
Thanks for the Phil Wood grease pic.
That brings back tons of memories...mostly of my orange Gitane Super Course bike (which disappeared, when the last house before blokeplace was re-roofed).
Some people freak out re: petroleum products used on their instruments (as if they don't inhale and ingest a bit of petroleum every day of their lives, but whatever...) and - for them (though it's really not designed for ball bearings) there's Dow Corning 111, which can actually be safely ingested.
I use it on the threads of my mouthpiece components.
This is the very cheapest (not much of it) that I could find...
For not much more, you can get significantly more of this stuff...

Phil Wood was a hometown hero in Los Gatos and San Jose.
Wade's recommend is dead nuts on, I love the stuff, its tenacious.
