Thank you Ace. It was difficult to get it to play. Had to hit various buttons numerous times as there seems to be a problem with the link? But, very worth the effort. When I was in community college as a music major (transferred to 4 year in bus admin) one of my greatest pleasures was playing music of this genre with our brass ensemble. Oh, the good old days . . .

Glad you were finally able to see and hear the performance. I noticed that it took about 10-12 seconds before it loaded and appeared on my screen. Slow. I think it's because it is a Face Book URL. (?)

Is it just me, or is one of the picc players missing one of his valve tuning slides?

I am primarily a trumpet player, since 1947. I have seen only one case where a picc player has pulled his fourth valve slide off the horn. I was told some mumbo-jumbo about it releasing some back pressure even though there was no intention of using the fourth valve on a given piece of music. Defies reason, I think. But, the picc player in the video sounds terrific, so who am I to be a doubter? I once bought a beautiful used Burbank picc trumpet, and its fourth valve slide had a large vent hole, open all the time. Had no effect on the tone quality even when the fourth valve was depressed. That horn was designed by Eldon Benge, a former trumpet player in the Chicago Symphony. He was no schmuck in trumpet design. But, I still can't figure it out. Maybe some of you guys know the answer.

Marvelous! Great music and a wonderful rendition.

My cat even dropped by, ears atwitch, to listen for a while. Evidently he knows great music when he hears it. :smilie8:
Best regards,
