SOLD! GOOD Chinese PT mouthpiece knock-off (Helleberg II- style cup/rim) $45+postage

Post by bloke »

$45 plus postage:
At least (for now), I can offer a postage price: $5 1st class/no tracking, $6.50 - 1st class/with tracking, $8.50 - Priority box/with tracking

These are GOOD (std. shank) mouthpieces - for those who go for the Helleberg II / Laskey 30H / Helleberg 7B / original Helleberg
family of mouthpieces.

I've never offered them for sale, because
1/ I don't have a regular source for them, and
2/ They don't put enough silver plating on them at the factory.

This one showed up (new), and - since I had other stuff to send off to Anderson - I went ahead and got it properly plated...so its "all good".

I do NOT have a price for it, yet, because I can't remember what I'm customarily charged to plate a tuba mouthpiece.

If interested, CHECK BACK HERE, and I'll post a price once I receive my snail-mailed/on-account invoice from Anderson.

other "who knows: maybe??...maybe not??" news:
I've been toying with the idea of offering my own version of a mouthpiece within this size/style "family".
(the more conservative size-range Helleberg).

I have never found a "Helleberg" (neither in the larger 120 size range or the 7B/original size range) that I personally liked, but (with the building of my compact Holton BB-flat, and none of my four cup styles seeming to be quite the right thing for it...though the Imperial with a tall rim being the best of those, as that's quite an amazing combo) I started messing around on the bloke econo Atlas lathe, and (after tossing several in the trash) came up with a conservative-sized Helleberg shape that (to me) "sparkles" a bit more than the others (mentioned above). I honestly haven't decided (and Dave will obviously have a hand in this decision, as well) whether to offer it as a "model" or not. I will (at least) have one for "me". If we go through with this, it will (per the rest of our line) be stainless steel components, so that (finally?) those who are fans of this family of cup shape - particularly if they happen to LIKE my variant - will NOT be locked into only one rim profile/embouchure-opening choice. Dave is in the process of cutting my brass rim off and threading it (as well as scanning it into his computer), so that I can screw on a stainless rim. :teeth:

Regarding the possible addition of an “H” style cup, call it something clever like “The August” or something (https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/august). That would fit in well with “Imperial”. :-)

And absolutely, having the ability to put some different rims on that style of cup is a huge help. Mr. Laskey while working at Schilke and for himself provided evidence that an improved/variant rim design (understanding not everyone likes that profile either) on that cup is marketable.

yeah...
This particular "Helleberg II" (interior-) style mouthpiece (which will be econo-priced) isn't something that I like as well as the one that I trial-and-error-ed on my cheap lathe, but it's (in my estimation) "as good as most any of the rest".

If you've been looking for a good-condition (NEW condition with NEW plating) Helleberg II-style mouthpiece that isn't $1XX.XX, this is it.
