Conn E-flat sousaphone false branch (rotted out) replacement.

Post by bloke »

I guess there has to be a first time for everything...including replacing rotten "false" branches (looks like part of the instrument, but is actually just a giant brace, formed of a large curved brass tube) on century-old fancy E-flat sousaphones...

post is now fleshed out...
thanx for patience.

I did a whole BUNCH of the typical types of repairs to this instrument, PLUS lengthening/shortening various circuits as acoustically called for.

It now plays in-tune better than many fancy-schmancy "professional" E-flat tubas. I'd LOVE to own this particular 28K...

Bloke fix 'n' mod 28K from 1943

In the third pic I was highlighting my love of natural brass wear under silver finish {false branch from an ancient Blessing? bugle] :teeth: The horn is very sturdy, seems a bit more beef in the bass tone compared to my beloved 26K '52 (also modded by Bloke. Wait till you see that...)

I'm 9 gigs into the 28K and loving it.

Act now to secure your visit to BlokePlace Resort ... More value than you can imagine!
