SOLD: Buescher 685 4v BBb Sousaphone
Hello,
I have my Buescher 685 Sousaphone for sale. It is a 4 valve sousaphone pitched in BBb. The valves are in good shape.. The Sousaphone has a 30 inch bell with copper plating inside the bell. This was my gigging Sousaphone for years. It is surprisingly lightweight for a 4 valve Sousaphone at 28 lbs. The Sousaphone is located in Northwestern IL, but shipping is available. Price is $3,000.

The link/photos don't show up, even when I click on them. Perhaps your privacy settings need to be adjusted? Sounds like a sweet horn.

I messed with the settings a bit. Is it working now? My settings all said that anyone with a link could view it.

Works for me.
If it’s tourist season, why can’t we shoot them?

Re: FS: Buescher 685 4v BBb Sousaphone
Great sousaphone...
a couple of things (some may not know...??)
(probably) fact:
> If any of the pistons (in the future) ended up badly damaged - via an accident, etc.), the later-made (1950's - 1970's, etc.) Selmer-USA Bundy/Buescher/Selmer/Signet (fiberglass and less-common) brass sousaphone valves FIT these 1920's-1930's Buescher sousaphones (and same-bore front-action tubas). I tend to see more of the "Selmer-USA" fiberglass sousaphone valvesets for sale on eBay than some of the more common brands...so replacement pistons gleaned from later-made junk instruments (if ever needed on one of these) ARE a possibility.
(possibly) opinion:
> This one (based on what I'm seeing) should probably REMAIN in B-flat (and NOT be cut to C) based on it appearing to be configured slightly differently from some others from the same era (ie. It seems as though there is LESS capillary portion - which could otherwise potentially be removed - to achieve the "C" thing) than I've seen with other similar c. 90-year-old Buescher sousaphones.
I have no criticism whatsoever...!!! These comments are only put up with the intention of (hopefully) being informational.
I like the shiny copper on the bell interior !
