I need to replace my spit valve corks. I feel like a doofus - I don't ever remember doing them in all the years of playing. I've always replaced my bumpers and felts on my own, along with regular cleanings, but I guess I've always managed to have corks done when stuff was in for cleaning/maintenance/repairs...?
Where's the best place to order some? Any secret squirrel crap to know about installing them that the average moron wouldn't know?
Thanks,
Bill

Re: Spit Valve Cork Replacement
I used to just get sheets of cork and cut them to size.

Re: Spit Valve Cork Replacement
I thought about that. Then I figured if I already have to buy cork, maybe I can just buy the replacements. Thankfully, it's not a PIA kind of job either way!

Re: Spit Valve Cork Replacement
Allied Supply has several diameters and heights made of the same air-and-rubber stuff that my synthetic washers are made of...and are peel-and-stick.
Ask some of your local shops if they have some of the Allied black "foam" rubber (not really, but...) peel-and-stick water key corks in stock.
If they're for a European tuba, there is a large-diameter size...
