Interesting discussion, but my experience has been quite different - Ben and Ken at the ITEA Journal have been delighted to publish my historical research, which I engage in because I enjoy it (as a hobby), and love to share what I've learned with others who might be interested. Those guys have been a joy to work with, and I have no professional need to "publish," nor am I in any danger of "perishing"!
I miss T.U.B.A

Re: I miss T.U.B.A
Played an F. E. Olds 4-valve BBb in high school (late '70s)
Led the USC Trojan Marching Band tuba section (early '80s)
Now playing an F. Schmidt (=VMI) 3301 and goofing around
on a 1925 Pan American Sousaphone and an 1899 Conn tuba!

Does anybody know if T.U.B.A. was trademarked? Or if there was legal ownership of it that was subsumed in the merger with ITEA?
Just curious...
