I play with John in our local New Horizons band. Whilst I can't vouch for the horn (as he's a vital cog in the euph section), John takes care of his instruments. FWIW, he's a big lad, makes me look small.
". . . and loudly he played . . . "

I'm glad this is relevant to you. The Neptune didn't fit well because the bell diameter is 20.5". Even the PT-7 fit better than the Neptune. Pretty sure that John's excellent 190 would fit just fine.
Bump for John.

Re: Mirafone 190 BBb 5/4 5 V
The 190 is about 4 inches longer/taller than the Neptune. (39.75" vs 43.3") Perhaps this is what he was alluding to. The newer horns with the wider bells (to include the 186) are all a little shorter, too. My 1971 186 is more than an inch taller than the current model. The current 190 has a much wider bell flare than the one for sale, so it might be even taller than the 43.3" of the current 190. I am betting that the old version of the tuba (smaller bell, larger valves) is about 45" tall. Just a guess, though. They are *very* tall tubas; I can easily see them not fitting in some sedan back seats.
Re: Mirafone 190 BBb 5/4 5 V
Affirmative. I don't think a Wagnerian Soprano would fit in there as well. For traveling, the Bortmobile is probably outstanding. You'd never know he's a tuba player.the elephant wrote: ↑Tue Jul 27, 2021 8:20 pm The 190 is about 4 inches longer/taller than the Neptune. (39.75" vs 43.3") Perhaps this is what he was alluding to.
Great horn though. BUMP.
