most sexy part of the description:
This tuba has never been overhauled
Do I repair instruments? yes...
...but - to me - "overhaul" means "files, sandpaper, and heavy buffing"...oh yeah: and tossing the bow caps in the garbage, and replacing them with sousaphone guard wire. :facepalm2:

(but it's obviously a "student" instrument, because it's B-flat, only 4 valves, and not 6/4...oh yeah: and no pistons)

best guess is the model 20.
also would guess 1960's.

20 was smaller than Miraphone 86, and 25 was/is larger than Miraphone 86.

The 20 and 25 featured the same valveset (19.5mm bore).

The ad says 1965, so a very good guess. :teeth:

@bloke are you referring to any tuba in particular?

Yikes.

If it makes you feel any better the Holton 4/4 BBb (about the same model as yours) that I have came without a bottom bow guard, but no sousaphone guard wire and clearly hasn’t been overhauled (but perhaps needs to be).

In regards to the actual horn in question here, does anyone have personal experience with this model? Based on bloke’s comparison to the 186, and assuming the quality of Meinl of that era was good (I have no knowledge in that department), this thing at least caught my eye. Not like I can drive to the Houston area to check it out or anything (1150 miles or so).
