Conn 4J BBb tuba

Post by laricciotuba »

Here is a rare Conn 4J BBb tuba that I have used for a while. It is lacquer with a silver inner bell. The bell is only engraved conn and has a design on it, but I believe it is the 4j version when compared to other models. If I am wrong, please correct me kindly. It is in good shape considering it's age and has some dents, scratches and lacquer wear. It has many more years of playing in it. Any questions or offers please private message me. Located on Long Island, NY. Asking $2000 OBO. Shipping available at buyers expense. Thank you

It's the B-flat version of the 2J, which is actually Olds/Reynolds tooling.
superior to the 5J, imo.
If there is no picture of the pistons, it would be nice to show them to those who might be interested (considering the age).

It may (possibly/probably...) feature the old-school "long" #1 and #3 circuits which - once shortened - offer the player a "jim-dandy" instrument.

How/why are the 4Js superior to the 5Js? Just curious.
