That's my Alex on @Dan Schultz 's work bench. He worked on it for a previous owner, who opted not to have the valves rebuilt at that time. I had that done a couple years after I bought it, and it made a huge difference.

A great video! I really enjoyed learning more about the repair process. Could Dan's last name please be corrected in the title? Schultz! :eyes:

Sorry @Dan Schultz , I was in a bout of an inner ear issue that had the room spinning as I made that first post.

That was nice. Glad to see a little of what Dan does there in Indiana. I am currently waiting arrival of one of his King 2341 re-do’s. It is somewhere on a Greyhound between Indiana and Michigan. Dan is the only guy I know that spends all that time and effort refurbishing a horn and then throwing it under a bus.

I must commend him on his courage - continuing to use Greyhound.
At some point, I may go back to using them, but I’m just not comfortable with that option at this time.
I might consider it, if the recipient shows me proof of one of those Clarion policies.

Thanks for reposting and sharing this video. I had almost forgotten about it.

Yes... both of those Marzans left here some time back... as well as many other Marzans since then. The 'Pit Tuba' does not live here any more either. Neither the Conn 'Jumbo' sousa. In fact.... I think the only two horns that are still here from that video is the Alphorn and Selmer 'Commode-O-Phone' sousa. The 'go to' tuba in my current stable is a Rudolf Meinl 5/4 BBb. There will probably always be a custom King 2341 here too along with another fifteen or so assorted tubas.

BTW... my wife plays saxophone so there will always be an assortment of the old Buffet 'super dynaction' saxes around here. Between altos and tenors... I think she has five.

Looking around here, there are two that I cannot imagine selling.
All others are wonderful (otherwise - if only "remarkably good" - they would have already been sold), but aren't glued to the floor.

I enjoyed the video, @Dan Schultz
