The body is a Reynolds. No doubt about it.

The bell case says Conn, but the horn's body definitely is not.

Oh thank goodness somebody else could identify with the body was. I didn't think it was a Conn either but I didn't know what it was. If it was a Conn, The model number would have been 26J

Good eye. I was looking at the valves and thinking “it’s not the short action set (hence my 3xJ guess), but those caps look a lot more like a King cap than I remember…”

On picture #7 in the ad, the diagonal brace between the lower #1 and #3 valve tubing is indicative* of either Olds or Reynolds and the valve caps narrow it down to Reynolds.

*forced use a big word to make myself feel “more smarter”

The ad title ID's it as a Reynolds Contempora. Did it say Conn before? Big ol' horn for sure!

About twenty years ago, I was in one of the local music stores. One of these Reynolds tubas was there. It belonged to the private trombone teacher who would come to the store to teach, and he was finishing up a lesson. When he came out I talked to him about it. He complained it had a thin tone. I asked him what mouthpiece he used. Being a trombone player, it was some shallow cup thingy that wasn't worth the brass it was made out of. I asked if they had any Hellebergs, or similar. The guy behind the desk rummaged and found a used Schilke Helleberg. I said watch this, inserted the mouthpiece, and showed him what that tuba could do, rumbling the floors and rattling the windows in the process. He was wide-eyed and gobsmacked. He told me he never knew it could sound that good. I said with a proper mouthpiece, yes, it can.
