Only two TC events are somewhat close, with the rest being in northern Texas. And the two closer to me have morning rehearsals with several hours until the afternoon concerts, requiring it to be an all day event.

The funny thing is, I'm getting on a cruise ship on the same day as the TC that is closest to galveston, so I thought for a spilt second "oh it would be fun to do TC before the cruise" until I saw there was going to be a huge time difference between the rehearsal and and the concert. What the hell?

Yep, I'm Mark

It's been many years since I've bothered to show up for rehearsals. I've always conveniently "been running late" can I please still join? And obviously, no issues there. The blood hungry Phillips organization is more than happy to accept my $10 with or without the rehearsal. Perhaps it's diferent in different places, but everywhere I've been, no one really seems to care except for your $10. Even the pfins are kind of optional, but the $10. Did you pay your $10? I don't care if this is the first time you've ever held a tuba in your life, and I don't care if you can play it or not. I only care if you have $10 to put in my hand.

:tuba:

That said, I think the two closest ones to me are either canceled or definitely not happening but not announced yet, so I'll have to find somewhere else to go this year. It's either that or I'm going to have my own unsanctioned Christmas tree lot TC this year.
Maybe we could just have a “reading session“ somewhere…
