Tubas for sale - photos added (both tubas are sold)
SOLD...I have 2 tubas up for sale. The tubas are located in Reading, PA and I prefer local pickup. I will consider shipping at buyer expense. My schedule and special needs son make it difficult for me to drive to meet someone but would consider meeting someone within an hour drive away. You are welcome to drop by my place and try them out. I will send pictures on request. Just send me a PM with your email or cell number.
First up is a Mack Brass 410 CC tuba. I have owned this horn for many years and it has been great. I have decided to downsize to a smaller horn so I will no longer be using this tuba. When I purchased this horn from Mack about 10 years ago, Tom had only one of them in stock. He asked me if he could hold onto it for 2 weeks so he could work up his chops for demo videos. Below are videos of Tom playing my horn:
The tuba has a coin added to the fourth valve so my tiny pinky can reach it. There are two small scratches inside the bell that aren't very visible. The tuba comes with the Jinbao semi hard case and a side loading Protec gig bag. Both cases are in outstanding shape. The thumb ring is missing although I will try to locate it. I hate thumb rings so I took it off. If I can't find it, I'm sure you can get one from Mack Brass. Lacquer is almost nearly 100%. There is some pitting where my forearm makes contact with the horn. The 5th valve slide crook was not buffed properly at the factory so they lacquered a small patch of unpolished brass. I have had this horn cleaned on a regular basis. I am asking $1,200 for the tuba and both cases.
SOLD: Up next is a unique F tuba. It is a ZO that was also purchased from Mack Brass approximately 2 years ago. As far as I know, it is the only one in existence. It is a 5 rotor valve and the quality is quite nice. The valves look and feel very similar to B&S. I have the bell at 16.25" and the bore at .810" I would say it is a 4/4 to 5/4 ish size tuba. The intonation is very good and the valves are incredibly quiet. It has a brushed brass finish and the lacquer is 100%. The tuba looks brand new. It has a bit of an antique look. The horn overall looks like a B&S F and an Alex F had a wild night and this was the fruits of their love. I have coins added to all valves. Again so my little Vienna sausage fingers can reach them. It is also sans the screw in thumb ring. I know that it is definitely hanging around my house and will try to find it. Slide alignment is also very good. It is on par with any other high dollar horn. It comes with a top loading Supersac (I am not familiar with this brand but it is nice) gig bag. It has Meinl Weston logos on the bag. I just don't play enough bass tuba rep to justify keeping it. I am asking $2,000 for this tuba.
I have no financial reasons to let go of these horns so my prices are firm. I'm just trying to find them a home where they will get played.
To recap:
Mack 410 CC (Miraclone 186) $1,200 - this includes a semi hard case and gig bag which are both in fantastic shape.
ZO 5 rotor F tuba (B&S/Alexander love child) $2,000 - this includes a gig bag that is also in fantastic shape
Located in Reading, PA
Prefer local pickup.
Will consider driving an hour to meet buyer.
Will consider shipping at buyer expense.
You are welcome to try them at my place (I'm willing to throw in a sammich for the effort).
I am not entertaining returns.
Pictures available upon request. Just PM me on this board with your email and/or cell number.
I take several forms of payment. That can be discussed with the potential buyer.
I do not have any videos or recordings of me playing these horns, nor do I have the desire or time to make them. I do not have any videos or recordings of me playing either of these horns in brass quintet. See Tom's videos above for the CC tuba. It is the exact tuba that I am selling.
If you have any other questions, PM me.

Re: Tubas for sale - photos added (ZO F tuba is sold)
I had one for quite a few years. It was a perfect CC tuba for me. They are kind of hard to find, especially the older ones with the 2+3 5th valve, which I find FAR superior to that silly "flat whole step" 5th that seems to be the modern preference. If I still had the NStar, I might try to find someone who could finagle a 2+3 5th valve slide for it, too.

I love this horn. It's got plenty of power, super agile, and light. It also has the old style 5th valve. This horn will need to be pulled from my cold, dead hands before I let it go.Mary Ann wrote: ↑Tue Nov 23, 2021 10:03 am I had one for quite a few years. It was a perfect CC tuba for me.
