I don't receive the current whatever (ITEA Journal?). If they still don't do this, when are they going to start? Has anyone over there ever had a clue about maintenance/repairs/mods being slightly important to the tuba community? @russiantuba, what say ye?Rick Denney wrote: ↑Wed Dec 01, 2021 12:06 pm God forbid the TUBA Journal of those days would actually publish repair articles to provide that information--that would have been--and still would be--a great ongoing column.)

wire...because they are seen on the OUTSIDE.
Those flat ("clock") springs are hidden on the INSIDE.

I have two 184 CC tubas. One was built in 1985 and the other in 1989. The 1985 has updated mini ball linkage. The 1989 has the original white nylon DVS. The mini ball linkage is a bit noisy. The white nylon DVS is super quiet and works just fine. The model from 1985 was converted by a very reputable tech who was the original owner of the horn. I very much enjoy both horns but the DVS is definitley not crap.

I just saw the notifications tab and saw this.Doc wrote: ↑Wed Dec 01, 2021 2:36 pmI don't receive the current whatever (ITEA Journal?). If they still don't do this, when are they going to start? When Ben Pierce was the editor, I mentioned the relevance to the general crowd of Bloke’s article. I saw lots of great feedback and they talked about a “Nuts and Bolts” section. Ben has passed on the editor position to Justin Benavidez. I enjoyed this and could see the potential of showing projects and techs talking through what they do to modify horns. I know it takes time out of their schedules to write articles, so maybe let them have an ad space on a journal for doing this to help out?
With that being said, I’m heading up a new section, and though the advertised it on the page, they have given no email newsletter communication nor social media attention to it. I emailed the president-elect when he asked what ITEA could do to get more people to come back and be involved, I mentioned the lack of advertisement of the thing I am heading, and the relevance of journal articles and the response was that they sent a survey to see what members think. To answer the question in my opinion, give it a decade.
