Re: "Two-ba"
I saw this several months ago. I actually thought of @bloke when I saw this. I think this would promote good emoting while performing on stage in an orchestra.

I'm afraid that the modifications would only encourage young audiences to throw things in the bell...
If it’s tourist season, why can’t we shoot them?

Re: "Two-ba"
I played a traditional jazz gig on the 4th of July this year. I can't tell you how many times adults were mimicking basketball shots and throwing things into my bell. It seemed to be the 30-60 year old crowd most amused by it. Several times I would see a parent get their kid's attention then pretend to do a jump shot in the direction of my bell. I don't think this modification will increase the chances of that happening.windshieldbug wrote: ↑Mon Dec 20, 2021 11:01 am I'm afraid that the modifications would only encourage young audiences to throw things in the bell...

Re: "Two-ba"
When I was in my early 20's - and playing a wedding reception around the pool at the father-of-the-bridge's house - the bridge's about-the-same-age brother threw some trash (probably: napkin and/or paper plate, etc.) into my sousaphone bell.
I threw HIM (tux and all) into his dad's pool.
His dad subsequently gave me two bottles of champagne - to take home.

Re: "Two-ba"
When I was in high school and had just gotten my first CC tuba one of our horn players thought it would be funny to drop her mute down my bell (one of those red and white straight mutes). It was hopelessly stuck right at the bend between the bottom bow and the bell. After a half hour of trying to pry it out I finally just got a knife, cut it into pieces and poured it out of my bell. I did not offer to buy her another mute.bloke wrote: ↑Mon Dec 20, 2021 12:12 pm When I was in my early 20's - and playing a wedding reception around the pool at the father-of-the-bridge's house - the bridge's about-the-same-age brother threw some trash (probably: napkin and/or paper plate, etc.) into my sousaphone bell.

Re: "Two-ba"
Plot twist -- the dad stuffed the champagne bottles in your sousaphone bell.bloke wrote: ↑Mon Dec 20, 2021 12:12 pm When I was in my early 20's - and playing a wedding reception around the pool at the father-of-the-bridge's house - the bridge's about-the-same-age brother threw some trash (probably: napkin and/or paper plate, etc.) into my sousaphone bell.

Re: "Two-ba"
It was a cost-me-$5 flea-market "Pioneer" (York stencil) E-flat sousaphone...
...but it was MY sousaphone, and NOT that numbskull's trashcan.

Re: "Two-ba"
Yaaaa, seemed pretty ridiculous, but it does seem like that system could be used to effectively re-route valves. If someone wanted to actuate the 4th valve on an inline comp Eb with their left hand, for an example with absolutely no connection to my Eb 853 wish list…

Re: "Two-ba"
FRONT-buh…
When are they going to make a gadget for you front-action-or-nothing guys, whereby a top-action tuba can be turned around backwards, the mouthpipe tube can be taken apart and flipped around, and there are add-on gadgets that operate a a 3+1 tuba from the center of the backside of the instrument?

Re: "Two-ba"
Seems like a way to potentially adapt a piston button arrangement to rotary-like spatulas.KingTuba1241X wrote: ↑Mon Dec 20, 2021 10:32 am 3 ba? Also interchangeable slides to make it from E flat to F or B flat to CC?

Re: "Two-ba"
I think Oren M has something he made or had converted thats kind of like that but looks more like a giant saxophone and he plays it sitting. I don't think his can turn back into a traditional tuba though.
