Considering that the value of our money is in flux - and that (mostly) it is in the toilet, I think it’s just fine for any of us – whether we are individuals or businesses, who talked earlier with others about doing things or selling things to each other - to change (raise) prices - based on the fact that the money discussed six months or a year ago no longer represents as much value.
I’m not changing the prices of any in-progress jobs I’m doing for anyone, but - if I told someone something that someone I have (or some service that I might offer) could be bought for X a year ago (and - at that time - they told me they would “think about it“), the price of that same item or service today from me might very well now be 1.3 X (etc.) Our rulers and their mouthpieces/media tell us that the recent inflation experienced to date has only been “blah-blah” percent, but all of us know that most of the things that we have to buy have gone up much more than “blah-blah“...
…so - when any of us feel that we must change a deal offered earlier - when that deal was not excepted earlier, I don’t see as anyone behaving in this manner as being dishonorable in any way.

Like almost all industries…

No one reasonable is going to be offended with a quote that has a 30 day expiration.

…and individuals (not discussing buying from businesses, but discussing buying things from other individuals) should remember this as well, if a person who owns that item wants a higher price for their thing weeks or months later, as the deal was not consummated when it was first discussed…
… and “so what” if a specific price was advertised on the Internet - weeks or months ago.

We'd have to go back to about 2003 prices in California for me to want to "go back" to any of OUR prices. It was about $1.47/gal then and it never stopped going up.
