$1800 is really cheap.
You could even get a real Miraphone bell, have it swapped out, and still come out of it doing very well.

Within driving distance for me. Very tempted, as my 186 (as great as it is) has seen far better days...looks like it's been through war. Anyone know how these replacement bells play compared to the Miraphone bells? Might be a question for @Dan Schultz .

He wrote about this here - http://www.thevillagetinker.com/projects.htm . You have to scroll waaaayyy down the page, but he has an article about 3 186 tubas with a different bell on each one; you'll see the heading "YAMAPHONE".
