ancient TV western traditional jazz superstar connection

Post by bloke »

The very old black-and-white TV western weekly series called “Laramie“ featured a regular character who were a derby. I don’t know the name of the character, but Hoagie Carmichael played the character.
The show airs daily around lunchtime on a rabbit ears station called METV.
Others who know more can supply more information.

I saw Hoagie in a movie called Young Man With a Horn(I think) with Kirk Douglas as the young man trumpet player and Hoagie as his chain smoking piano playing friend. I think Doris Day was in it too. Hoagie was also in a Flintstones episode as himself. Ed

Excellent movie. Hoagy was also in the Bogie and Bacall movie "To Have and Have Not". Several other movies as well.

That guitar lick - and the face sticking up above the guitar - sure looked and sounded like Nappy Lamare.
