This is my 12-year-old granddaughter.
She may (??) be going to Interlochen this summer, has been shown a stack of excerpts by her Dad, and - thus - has discovered that - occasionally - horn music is written in bass clef.
She found a Rochut trombone book in a stack of stuff, and is teaching herself to read bass clef.
No...She doesn't (yet) sound like an "artiste" on the horn (her Dad and his Mom coach her on phrasing, etc.), but she's definitely a self-starter.

Sounds good!!
If she goes to Interlochen, she may be playing a piece written by my wife. They ordered it- maybe that means they are programming it?

Re: Rochut
I believe her application was for some sort of junior division - which is geared towards budding musicians in her age range, and is for fewer weeks.
your spouse's composition: possibly a more complex/sophisticated piece ?

It's like a grade 2.5 and I think had seen some performances from middle school honor bands, so... time will tell what repertoire she encounters this summer.

Re: Rochut
Your granddaughter is doing great! Every school band director would love to have her in the band.
I worked at Interlochen one summer and observed lots of rehearsals and performances. The faculty and facilities are terrific.

Re: Rochut
Back when the University of Michigan’s school of music held their summer session there each year, I attended classes one summer, and my daughter graduated from the Academy and spent several summers there, so we have a “history”.
It’s an amazing place.
