Hey Twin Cities! WTBorrow -- a tuba for a few weeks

Post by bort2.0 »

Ok, I KNOW this is a lot to ask... And I can repay you in dollars, beer, or....?

But, best laid plans of mice and men oft go astray...

My Rudy Meinl 5/4 BBb restore is taking longer than originally planned (but understandable).

My Besson 983 Eb is selling locally this weekend, much sooner than expected (and to the person who helped facilitate this -- thank you!!)

My community orchestra is resuming operations this coming week... Also sooner than expected.

Which means I have no tuba, except for an inappropriate recording bell Conn 20J or a wallhanger-and-barely-plays 1895 Conn Eb.

OMG, I'm in a pinch.

Is anyone within an hour or so of Minneapolis willing to let me borrow a tuba (any key) for a short amount of time? Anything goes, frankly, as long as it's a bell-up tuba. I'm playing Brahms #2.

I have irons in the fire to cover myself moving forward after the Besson 983 sale is over and $ is deposited... but that leaves me a gap week or two.

Humbly asking, can you help me out of a jam, TC?

Open to any options and okay to hear 'no', 'go away', 'WTF are you thinking?', 'Thats interesting' or 'Uffda, seems like you're in a tight spot there, bort'

All okay... But I hadta ask, eh?

Thanks!! :tuba:
Brett

If you were closer to California, I’d loan you one…

I'm in the Green Bay area and have an Eastman 562 BBb and Besson 782 Eb. Several hours away, but happy to loan either/both if you're unable to locate anything closer.

Brett,
If you want to meet at Culver's on 10 in St. Cloud you can have your choice of my King or my tiny 3-banger 103. Tuesday, as I'm in WI right now.

I'm glad I could make you happy.

GL - this is when I'm glad to be in the DC area and have a lot of friends I could call and get a horn as needed.

I could make a deal with you - which you would turn down flat.

A professional (c. 5-1/2 hours away from you) is interested in a (very nice-playing C) instrument that is just sitting, here.
They neither wish to pay the newer exorbitant common carrier shipping price, and nor do I wish to risk has-just-become-too-dicey GPX service. Further, they are having trouble budgeting time to get down here to pick it up in-person.

If YOU get YOUR butt down here and get it, you are welcome to use it for a few weeks, but - when you have something else (or if it's eventually been a bit too long) - I would need to you meet the eventual buyer somewhere (or - probably likely - get them to pick it up from you in Minn'y).

(geez...That probably defines at least $200 in gas bucks - at today's post-coup prices.) :facepalm2:
