pair of King hard cases

Post by bloke »

Were cases of this quality made today, I would guess that a set would cost $3000.

Were I driving through that remote portion of the USA, I'd pick these up, but the shipping (though reasonable) kills the deal for me - as far as just buying them "for possible future need".

Seller is Taylor Music. I've had good experiences with them. They're offering the cases for less than their own-make cases.

yes...Stan's company - in the middle of nowhere.
He and I have horse-traded a whole bunch, over the years.

The new ones - I'm fairly sure - are made in Costa Rico.

In the past (still to this day...??) The Getzen's (both the Getzen bros. and their cousins at (sold to others, and later defunct) DEG sold those Costa Rican cases.
In the way-distant past, similar (better-made) cases were made in the USA by GWW (General Wood Workers).

Into the 80s one could still buy an Oldsmobile with pillow top crushed velvet purply-blue bench seats like the inside of that case.
