I'm thinking that a band director may want these...
I have an Bach 869 (same as Olds O-99 or Reynolds TB-10 - 3-valve front-action - 1980's) which is all straightened out in a hard case.
The pistons are UGLY but work. If you want NICE NEW PISTONS (??), I'll sell you a set at COST, but they are over $100 each.
I believe new pistons would drop right in...They are very slightly too large for Olds (by design, to discourage people from buying Bach parts to repair Olds tubas).
I also have a Reynolds 5/4 recording bass (probably, 1960's...I had to scrounge valves for it, but they valves are BEAUTIFUL with very good tolerances). The bell is NOT original, but is a worn silver MARTIN (recording) bell...yet the male collar is an exact fit. This tuba's BAG is in a new-condition and (fits in it assembled) is a LARGE ProTec bag (included).
The LEAST I'll sell these four requires meeting conditions:
- buying BOTH of them
- picking them up here in-person
That amount (for the pair) is ONLY $1500, which is CHEAP ENOUGH.
"motivated seller"...?? yeah: motivated to sell them no cheaper than this
If I have to "deal" with them ( sell individually / ship / provide a formal quote / accept a card / wait 90 days for the dough from a school / fill out papers in order to sell to your school system / etc.) they will be MORE...and NOT just "fifty or a hundred more"...MORE.
"Hey bloke...Do you have any pictures?"
Yeah...I can take pictures, but I've described them already:
Bach:
- same as Olds O-99
- no dents
- brown
- ugly (worn plating) valves
- plays
- hard case
Reynolds:
- no dents
- 5/4
- mismatched-but-fits Martin worn-silver recording bell
- super valves
- oh yeah...NEW (bloke-brand) mouthpipe
- very dark lacquer
- new-condition large ProTec bag
and I'll probably stick up some pictures, but everyone here knows that I never over-represent my stuff.
Finally, I'm not considering offers - for a bit - for ONLY one of them.
FIRST, I'm only (please) talking to those who are interested in BOTH. These need to disappear, and they're priced cheap enough.
Some of you band director types NEED cheap at-home practice tubas. They're B-flat, they're front-action, and they're NOT tiny little grunt-sounding tubas. If you're a day-trip away, come get 'em ! If you're two-days away, we'll put you up and feed you. Yes, gas is expensive. Yes, shipping is expensive. "We The People" decided to be herded into that stuff, and "We" ain't me. ...me: I've just got these-here low-priced and ready-to-go tubas.
