does your tuba play a little stuffy?

Post by Nworbekim »

i took my 186 to the shop last week, it just didn't feel like it played as it should. it felt a little stuffy. i thought the bumpers might need replacing and the valves aligned. i get a text this morning from Dustin saying ... remember you saying it felt like it played a little stuffy? look what i found! i'm glad it wasn't a BRA, my wife would never let me go to another band practice ever again

oh, and the bumpers did need replacing...

off topic:

superb trumpet-playing friend who wears VERY brightly-colored ties:

"I HATE these things, but women like them...and they're cheaper than a cute dog.

ON topic:

roughly three decades ago, I was playing a quintet Christmas gig in an old historic Presby' church.
My F tuba's sound just wasn't "on", and I hadn't been practicing much at all.
I told myself (driving home), "Either I need to keep this playing-ability stuff up, or I need to hang it up."
A day or two later, I found a stuffed toy (probably a "Beanie Baby"...??) down in the bottom bow.
