supply chain, shipping, and tubas

Post by bloke »

So far, I've helped out two or three people get tubas and/or cases (where I had NOTHING to do with buying or selling), and I've been involved in a few more "relaying" types of deals where I DID have something to do with buying or selling...

...so should we be putting our approximate locations (not addresses, but - perhaps - "closest major city") in our signatures?

obviously, no "requirement", but...

Done.

I suggested the chain delivery thing years ago in one of my tirades against shipping. I think it is a good idea if liability concerns are addressed. I do not see why we have to depend on a bunch of "IDGAF Knuckleheads" to handle our valuable instruments when we can do it ourselves for about the same price, much faster, without damage, and with the chance to meet and break bread with other forum members. And when done right, no one touches the horn outside of the buyer, seller, and maybe one or two others involved in the transport chain.

It should go without saying - when someone is doing us a nice favor, hopefully combined with another errand they were planning on running anyway – that we should offer some funding to help cover these over-the-top fuel costs, and probably also encourage the favor-doer to allow us buy them a nice little lunch somewhere (better-grade “fast food“ is probably a plenty-nice token of appreciation - on top of fuel reimbursement.)

I wish "location" was visible in the mobile view of the site. @ParLawGod , is that possible?

It is, if you rotate your phone from “portrait” to “landscape”.

What phone are you using? My Samsung Galaxy does not show location in landscape (maybe I'm missing something).

Thanks! For me it just shows up on my laptop, not with Google Chrome on by Samsung Galaxy. I'm going to see if there's a way to make it though.
