SOLD Conn/Carl Fischer New York 5 Valve Euphonium

Post by tylerferris1213 »

Up for sale is a fantastic euphonium! This was made for me by J.c. Sherman. The body and first 3 valves were made by Conn, the silver bell was made by Carl Fischer New York, and the 4th valve was made by Olds. I can't remember what the 5th valve came from.

I commissioned this instrument to be made because I wanted an American euphonium that was fully chromatic down to the pedal register, and this definitely does that! The 4th valve tuning slide faces up and it easily reachable for slide manipulation. 2 and 4 put low B natural right in tune.

Plating on the valves and compression are both great.

I've owned this horn for about 10 years, and there are some small dents in the body. Nothing big, though. A couple more things to be noted are that the 5th valve is dependent and left hand operated. It currently has a small shank receiver. If you prefer a large shank receiver, it is an inexpensive procedure to change it out. I've had a lot of luck with a Schilke 51D.

The only reason I'm selling is because I have grown to prefer the Besson sound. I'm asking $1,299 for it, but will entertain reasonable offers. I would prefer local pickup, and I'm willing to drive a reasonable distance from Cleveland to meet a buyer. I can ship at buyer's expense. Thanks for looking!

I remember the video you're talking about, and I can't seem to find it either. Strange...
