Another blasmusik play-along video, but this time featuring the Wessex Eb Helicon. I had some kind of audio lag issue in the second video that I couldn’t fix to my satisfaction. I decided to let it ride and work on it once I get situated in my new spot. either way, you can get an idea of how it sounds with this type of music.

Re: Lovin' Me Some Helicon!!!! Post yours here.
Goooood morning, here is a bit of my stuff:
I only ceep the Tenor and the Cerveny BBb Helikon.
The rest was VERY uncomfortable to play and need a lot of time to play in tune. Need a lot of alternative fingerings.
And this very good sounding Cerveny BBb Helikon.
Needs a new valve section...
Enjoy

Really cool. And we’ll played I might add.
Yeah, it doesn’t surprise me that the Cerveny needs a valve job. This is what, a 1920’s model? After a 100 years it has EARNED a valve job!

Re: Lovin' Me Some Helicon!!!! Post yours here.
This is a remarkably nice-playing 4+1 C helicon, made from 1920's Buescher parts, and patterned after Al Jaffe's (Preservation Hall founder) 4-valve B-flat Buescher helicon.
I used it (during a time when it was my ONLY contrabass tuba) to play everything from hip-hop to Walter Hartley to Stravinsky.
This was a picture that Mrs. bloke took of the TV screen when a Hallmark Channel movie was airing - in which I used it as a prop.
(I actually pre-recorded the music that we played with my Besson E-flat.)
oh yeah...I made a fortune (NOT) off that gig; c. $150 to record a pair of public domain tunes and $500 for the day shoot.
Oh well, the food truck was decent, and they let the band eat the "stars" food, rather than the "extras" food.
This was only a few days prior to me shipping it off to its new owner in Oregon, so it was all nice, clean, and shiny.
Here's a picture of it unencumbered by my formerly-way-to-large self:
(a few minutes prior to it disappearing into its shipping carton)

You are right. The Valves are not tight anymore. This Instrument will get a new 4 Valve section.
I really like it as it is, but it deserve a wellness week in the repairshop
