I recently bought 7 Tubas!!! My wife did not approve...
Should I sell them, or be known as "that guy with the tubas"?
I don't think there is much demand for yamaha ybb-103's and 105's these days, is there?

103s have their fans, as they are effectively YBB-621s with only three valves.

It all depends on your pricing and their playability.

Middle schools eat up 105's
People who do stand-up gigs eat up 103's

I'm not sure what you paid to obtain this lot of 7 tubas...
...but if you sell them at a fair price and make a neat little profit, maybe then your wife would feel a little better about it? :)

7 tubas. 7 days of the week. One for each day. Just like underwear and socks. You're set.

I did just have a band director friend in Illinois ask me to keep my eyes open for a 105

Re: I recently bought 7 Tubas!!! My wife did not approve...
As far as selling these to schools, the 103 is liked by adult tuba players - who like to stand up and cradle them at gigs, only because they are front-action, but they are really pretty delicate as far as how they are put together, and I can’t easily come up with parts, if a school - to which I may have sold one - trashes one of them.
obnoxious advertising insertion:
Being sort of lazy (or whatever I am), JP makes a nicer version of the 105 than Yamaha (nickel silver slide tubing, and with those really well-made and well-fitting stainless steel pistons) - and with a sturdier case, and it’s just easier to supply those - and accept a modest mark-up - than to work my tail off making a beat up 105 nice enough to sell to a school.
Of course I’m biased, but between the Yamaha 105, the Jupiter copy, the Eastman copy, and the JP copy, (repairing all of them) I judge the JP as the best put-together with the sturdiest case, and the lowest priced.

Your wife was unhappy when you purchased 7 tubas? You are lucky she isn't planning your funeral. I hope you can turn a good profit selling those instruments.

For quite old horns without being able to test for problems, yes.

I wouldn't blame a guy for trying, particularly if he needs to "I told you so" his wife.
