I would still like to see a (new, not worn out, not 3V comp, not YEB-321, not high-pitch wall-hanger, really nice/better-than-Jin'/new 15" bell E-flat 3+1 comp offered for sale. I'm told that (even in China) bell mandrel creation is very expensive, and using a 19" E-flat bell mandrel to make a 15" E-flat bell would put a scar (at the 15"/16" mark) on the mandrel that would transfer over to the 19" bells.
(Also - per longtime experience - the "J"-shaped bow - on the back of a 15"-bell E-flat - would need to be lengthened, as the smaller diameter bell results in a higher pitch level.)

17" is cool, but 15" offers that genuine/authentic/old-school/traditional brass band E-flat tuba type of resonance.

I've wondered about the detachable-bell thing (as with the 1960's-1970's F. E. Olds (California/chrome-plated) GG contra's.
It would add weight (and the mouthpipe would necessarily need to be detachable), but most of the added weight would be down low.
An auxiliary 15" bell (which attaches at the bottom bow) would be pretty cool, but (again) the (main slide) tuning range would need to be increased. A REALLY fine player (ie. not just just a "tubist", but a "tubiste") would need to be on hand to test the prototypes.

I’ll probably put some brown shoe dye on the leather and offer it for sale as “demo“. It’s probably only about 30 years old or so…
