Re: President's OWN digital rehearsal channel
I work with an orchestra that broadcasts an hour or so of the Friday morning rehearsals live on the radio - to promote the concerts.
As you might expect, the Thursday night reading rehearsals tend to somewhat emphasize what’s going to be rehearsed on Friday during that hour, because – lol – the live rehearsal can’t sound like crap on the radio. Also, the music director comments tend to be types of things that would appeal to patrons, rather than being particularly helpful to us. As one might expect, the piece rehearsed also tends to be the one that’s probably the most appealing to most people. Basically, that hour tends to become a “reality show“, and - when the sound guy announces that we are off the air, everyone exhales.
I tend to suspect that those rehearsals are just a little bit the same type of thing, but that doesn’t mean that they’re not really fun for watching and listening. Further, they are even under more stress - because there’s also a video track.
Mostly, thanks for the link, I’ll be listening.
