From the ad:
Estate sale, owner’s description:
“18.5mm-18.9mm-19.5mm
17 pounds
Herbert Gronitz was a custom builder in Hamburg with a very small output (fewer than ten instruments annually).
Gronitz built mainly specialty instruments such as F/Bbb double tubas, tiny tubas in F, double bell euphoniums – and apparently rarely a “standard” 4/4 Bbb tuba.
All of the above is distinct from the modern Gronitz tuba company which was continued by employees Dietrich Kleine-Horst and Karl F. Günther after Herbert’s death in 1973. The new company has a much higher output of newly designed instruments which are highly popular.
This is a 4 valve 4/4 upright tuba in BBb, a hand made instrument whose builder we know specifically.
As we would expect, it is a solid player and a handsome example of the type. In excellent original condition, as I received it.”
All rotary valves move freely.
Pick up near Cleveland OH, cash only.

Re: FB (OH): Gronitz BBb
That's not something on my "wish list", but - if I saw it at a display at a tuba shindig - I CERTAINLY would stop and ask to play it !!!
