Measurements/sizes of a Reynolds TB11 upright bell
Measurements/sizes of a Reynolds TB11 upright bell
Hi everybody,
I'm currently looking for an upright bell for my Reynolds TB11. I'm considering having on custom made. Could somebody provide me with the measurements/size?
The frontbell sizes are
° bell diameter: 22” (56cm)
° bell tenon diameter: 6 ½" (16,6cm)
The upright bell diameter (from the Contempora Corner) is:
° bell diameter: 20” (51cm)
The upright bell sizes I need are:
° bell length/height:
° brass thickness:
Hope somebody can help me out.
Many thanks in advance and best regards
Vincent

Contempora Corner gives the height of the Reynolds bass with an upright bell as 46". You should be able to subtract the body length from that to get the bell length. I imagine the metal thickness is comparable to that of the recording bell.

Have you and I communicated about this previously?
(I have three components which could - astonishingly closely) imitate an oem upright Reynolds bell...but I'm not interested in very carefully/precisely cutting two of them and building it (certainly not interested in putting a finish on it) without exceeding (what I would consider to be) market value for such a bell...but I could be coaxed into selling the raw components (at - not bargain, but - a seems-reasonable-to-me type of price).

If you are Joe, yes we did through mail. I missed the King bell you were selling. We can continue communicating through my personal email.
Many thanks in advance and best regards

Yes, and I’m sorry I haven’t answered (it got pushed down in my messages, and I forgot to answer), and let me answer publicly:
Whether you’re interested in what I have or not, please let me put this off until August.
Before the barn-full of school instruments came in, I actually smoothed out the bell flare portion nicely, so your local guy piecing this together should be even easier, if you decide to purchase these three components.

Hi Joe,
Thanks for your reply. My preferred window of opportunity for getting the parts is week July 11th (2022 ). I'll be in San Diego that week so could take it on the flight back home. It's a wind instrument after all . I guess courier shipping costs to Europe would be outrageous. Could you please any way send me some pictures? Can then check with the local guy (an American by the way) if he sees himself doing the job.
Best regards
Vincent

First, I need to get the grease (from smoothing it out) off of that bell.
ALSO (if we make a deal) I'll ROUGH CUT the bell (still: plenty too long) so that it might be cheaper to ship.

Hi Joe,
Did you have a chance to check the message thread above? Pictures of the bell components (does it include the bell ring?), bell tenon diameter (Reynolds' is 6 ½"), price ... are still more than welcome. I'm meeting next week the guy who's gonna put things together.
Best regards
Vincent
