Interesting new big Eb tuba

I kinda like the tallbell. The Wessex seems like I’m gonna hit my head on the bell, or look like the hunchback of Notredame playing it

Other than being an E-flat, the profile of Unc’s looks like it might be identical to my B-flat.
As long as the bell clears my head, I’m fine with it… and like a hard case it’s only 3 feet long for my 32 inch tall tuba with a 19 inch bell, and 190 ear-shattering dB of KA-POW !!!

How big is the 5th valve? 21 or 21,5 mm?

I'm not that good at identifying stuff from pictures...but I don't see a secondary lower bow (per typical B-flats).

yes...but I was referring to the bell, bottom bow and upper bow (these parts are the same with York/Holton 19"-bell B-flats and E-flats).

These tubas are typically 11/16" (nearly 17.5mm) bore - NO expansion for #4 and #5 (rotor) is typically 3/4" (just under 19mm) bore.

The only similar instruments that were sort-of) "mass"-produced (not all that many of either, honestly) in somewhat recent times were a Getzen-assembled product (defunct) and a Holton-built product (old-OLD tooling dusted off, but now also defunct, and bell was an inch smaller - to specifically suit Harvey Phillips).

King, King-alike, and cut-down-to-C King (aka "Conn") and Chinese King/Conn-alikes are similar, but slightly larger.

Between 4+1 (modified/updated) 4/4 Holton-or-York (EXTREMELY similar) B-flats, and King/King-like B-flat instruments, I personally prefer the Holton/York instruments. As far as the C versions, I've not played a "wonderfully in-tune" cut-to-C Holton/York, but the Eastman C versions of a very nicely shortened-to-C King seem successful/popular. I'm just personally not in the market for anything in this size range in C, and prefer my subtly/smaller-than-King Holton instrument (4+1) in its full/original B-flat length (to any of the others mentioned).

things about large bore King tubas

I’ve only had one 3/4” bore rotary King instrument and two 3/4” bore piston King instruments in my shop (after all these years).

I will confirm your report about the piston valves.
I don’t recall there being a single dimple in any of the ports, defining a remarkably long valve stroke.

Rick “very large hands” Denney probably would have found those pistons to be quite suitable.
