Michelle at Allied Supply wrote:After months of no availability we just confirmed that our supplier has worked through their supply chain issues and will be shipping Slime Away to us in a “couple of weeks” … however, we were warned to expect a very large price increase due to a huge spike in pricing on a single component. Our supplier spent months, and tried everything to mitigate the price increase but couldn’t without impacting the quality of the product. We have also seen availability issues, and large price increases on the containers we package the product in for resale.
As cleaning and refurb season begins prepare for your price to nearly double on Slime Away in all sizes and please price your cleanings accordingly to pass this along to your customers. We have updated the price list on all sizes; A876, A877 and A886. Availability is as yet to be determined depending upon how we break down the product into the various sizes. If you have these products on backorder we will be calling to see if you want to keep it backordered at the new price or if you would like to cancel. We hope cost goes down in the future, and we will adjust pricing downward at that time.

I keep mine covered, add water occasionally to compensate for slow evaporation, and also occasionally toss in a piece of shiny steel (to pull the copper residue out of the solution).
I haven't bought any in quite a while, and feel no need.

Re: FYI: Slime Away Cost Increase
I emailed an Allied order today. When I got the quote back it read that Slimeaway was STILL NOT AVAILABLE!!!!
This was devastating news. I have not been able to get it for over a year. I set up a new shop in December and had to fill the tank with that Votaw “Classic Brass”. It just ain’t Slimeaway. The Votaw stuff might as well be green tea. And I have tried it in many strengths. The Votaw “Power Brass” is nice stuff, but I have a budget to work with. I just have that stuff in a Home Depot bucket for small-ish stuff.
I am hoping Allied gets 10 pallets of Slimeaway in the very near future. Nothing made me happier than that product. Ultrasonic to me is a nice toy for cleaning: it sounds like 3 minutes of Dr. Frankenstein jump starting his monster but the result always has me back in the sink doing it right.
I may just give up and order a bunch of Etch-Klenz and call it a day.
BTW, anyone see the current Allied price for 20K valve stems? It’s a laugher for sure.

I knew they were expensive, but $20,000 is absurd.Cameron Gates wrote: ↑Thu Sep 15, 2022 5:49 pm BTW, anyone see the current Allied price for 20K valve stems? It’s a laugher for sure.

I saddens me that a school near me is replacing their sousaphones (yes, which need replacing) with new 20K sousaphones.
I'll say this much: Those instruments do not impress me.
