Nice. It has that awesome long 5th valve circuit, too.

Re: ID CL: 184 CC
Anybody feel like driving it from Moscow ID to Tucson AZ?
I actually maybe could do this --- I have a good friend who is an Uber driver and at age 80 thinks nothing of batting up to Las Vegas to visit his daughter. He might be on board for this, sharing driving. We'd have to take my truck because this ain't going to fit in his Camry. And eeek a hotel probably twice --- would that be cheaper than shipping all that stuff?

I would absolutely expect a Miraphone 184, in a gig bag, to fit into a Camry. Maybe not also with a suitcase... but on its own, absolutely.Mary Ann wrote: ↑Thu Sep 15, 2022 8:55 am Anybody feel like driving it from Moscow ID to Tucson AZ?

Re: ID CL: 184 CC
I have fit both cases of a 5/4 Reynolds recording bass (bell and body in separate hard cases) along with a Miraphone 186 in a gig bag in the back seat and rear hatch of a Prius with room to spare for a music stand, my son's stroller, and my wife and infant son in the passenger and rear seat, respectively. I don't think we could've fit anything else, though!

I used to fit my Holton 345 in gig bag in an old Corolla, so this one should be no issue.
Do it, and good luck!

Re: ID CL: 184 CC
I'd bet you could fit the hard case (with tuba inside) on the backseat, then get the gig bag into the trunk. It's a beautiful horn!

Re: ID CL: 184 CC
Well doesn't matter because m friend has negative interest in driving up there, nd I am not up to doing it myself. I did correspond with the owner but the cost of it plus shipping is what i paid for my NStar, and it's not an NStar. we'll see what I think when I get back from Virginia. My proposed trip to Mack Brass also appears to be off because the person I was going to stay with has sudden health problems and I may be without a place to stay for a few days at the end of my trip here.

Re: ID CL: 184 CC
Guy told me yesterday via email I'm first in line and is waiting until I get back home. I wonder why someone has not grabbed this yet? "First in line" may mean "only person in line" or it may mean "only one who hasn't (yet) made a lowball bid" -- but given this is a 184 with that long 5th valve I like, even though it would be more $$ than a Mack Miraclone, it is smaller and (likely) a bit more manageable for me. And I'll do my Zoom thing before anything else.
Commentary? PM me for comments on asking price. It would have to be shipped, and assumption of $500 to ship is probably reasonably accurate, given there is tuba, hard case, and gig bag.

Re: ID CL: 184 CC
I wax poetic about mine all the time. I have this exact model. Probably not the same year, and the lacquer on mine is more worn, but it's a joy to play. I haven't picked up my other CC or my F in months.

I get my Olds BBb 099-4 in a bag in the back seat of my Corolla. It fits in the trunk, too.Mary Ann wrote: ↑Thu Sep 15, 2022 8:55 am Anybody feel like driving it from Moscow ID to Tucson AZ?

Re: ID CL: 184 CC
Overall age of horn, LH 5th, long 5th, replaced lead pipe presumably due to red rot which can indicate similar issues in other places in the horn, lack of current familiarity with 184s, lack of market demand for 3/4 size instruments, total cost including shipping. Any / all of those can scare off a prospective buyer.
Detailed inspection aside, give it's a horn / case / bag / mute and the conditions all appear good so I feel the pricing is very good. I wish I had the need / financial bandwidth to buy this because every 184 I've ever played is simply fun to play, but for me it would be a splurge and just sit unplayed in my basement.
